Growth kinetics of Streptomyces erythreus were studied and mathematical equations developed to model the results. Computer simulations gave good agreement with experimental data. Owing to the use of complex media direct measurement of biomass was impossible. It was therefore evaluated by measurement of α, ϵ‐LL‐diamin‐opimelic acid in cell walls, or by determining the reciprocal of the methylene blue reduction time.
