In stationary cultures of Euglena gracilis, strains Z, T, and VVTHL, circadian rhythms of [3H] leucine incorporation were measured under conditions of constant light. Preincubation of intact cells with heat‐stable cytosolic extracts resulted in stimulations of protein synthesis up to 40‐fold. The extent of this effect varied within the circadian cycle indicating a rhythm of translational capacity.
