Waste products of the semiconductor industry must be considered as potentially toxic substances. The effect of two samples (contaminated oil from a vacuum pump, solid waste from the gas pipeline behind the pump) on the circadian activity and body temperature rhythms was investigated in laboratory mice. The circadian patterns were unchanged in each case. The time of resynchronization following an 8h delay in the LD‐Zeitgeber was prolonged however by 50 % in mice after administration of the solid waste.
