The refractive index of Bi2S3 for light polarized in the three crystallographic directions is determined from interference patterns of transmittance spectra between 0.9 and 2.5 μm. Transmittance and reflectance spectra for unpolarized light between 2.5 and 50 μm are also measured and a mean value of the refractive index in this region is deduced from the measurements. A weak impurity absorption band centered at 3.91 μm is found. The reflectance spectrum in the polar mode region is also reported and discussed by comparison to Sb2S3.
