An outline is given of a rigorous series for phase shifts in electron scattering from hydrogen. It provides a method for calculating phase shifts reliably, and the successive terms of the series can be put in a one-to-one relation with an adiabatic series which has been derived for dealing with this problem. The method is an extension of that used bv Breit and by Luke et al. for calculating the energy of some excited states of 2-electron atoms and ions. (B.O.G.)
