Crystalline preparations of histidinol dehydrogenase from Salmonella typhimurium LT-7 have been obtained by modification of a previously reported purification procedure. This material has been examined for amino acid composition, including sulfhydryl content. The nature of subunit structure has been examined through ultracentrifugal and chromatographic analysis. These analyses indicate that histidinol dehydrogenase is a dimer with subunits of similar, perhaps identical, size and composition.
