The design and performance of a tunable single-frequency diode laser pumped Nd:YAG microchip at 1.3 μm wavelength is described. This oscillator provided linearly polarised continuous-wave output with a continuously tunable difference frequency of over 58 GHz. This is an ideal swept frequency source at 1.3 μm for the testing of the frequency response of photodiode and other optical components.
