Theoretical design study demonstrates robust unidirectional edge modes in classical wave lattices, indicating viable blueprints for topological acoustic and photonic devices.
This paper translates the Angular Tetravalent Lattice (ATLC) into concrete experimental blueprints for classical wave systems. It provides a direct mapping from the discrete non-unitary update rules to physical parameters in acoustic waveguide networks and active photonic lattices. Three modular experimental setups are proposed: A bulk lattice for simulating massless Weyl-like dynamics. A topological domain wall supporting robust unidirectional edge currents without backscattering, even under extreme (80%) spatial disorder in the idealized discrete model. An advanced extension demonstrating kinematic mass-like dispersion via geometric inertia. The work explicitly addresses the requirement for non-reciprocal nodes to break time-reversal symmetry and discusses platform-specific implementation challenges in both acoustics and photonics.
