New observations of the time-varying component of the apparent solar diameter are reported. Power spectra derived from these observations reveal narrow-band oscillations at frequencies consistent with the normal mode frequencies of a standard solar model. The amplitudes of these oscillations are discussed and related to the observations of other investigators. A detailed analysis of the experiment and its associated sources of error is presented and used to show that there is a very small likelihood that the power spectrum peaks are due to nonsolar causes.
