In a national survey with a sample of 3,200 professionals employed full‐time in aging, respondents indicated that they used substantial amounts of aging‐specific knowledge in the domains of health, program planning and policy, and service. All aging‐specific knowledge items in all three domains were used daily by more than 30% of the total respondents, with some used by as many as 70‐80%. More detailed analysis revealed an underlying widespread use of each knowledge item across all job categories, in addition to extensive daily use of some items within job categories.
