Why the study?
The role of CaV1.2 channel phosphorylation at residue Thr1604 in myocardial hypertrophy was incompletely understood.
CaMKII-induced phosphorylation of the CaV1.2 channel at Thr1604 increases with prolonged isoproterenol stimulation and may be a key mechanism driving the progression of pathological myocardial hypertrophy.
Does not support clinical targeting of CaV1.2 phosphorylation; leaves open its role in human hypertrophy progression.
