A COMPLETE treatise covering all aspects of abdominal wounds observed in the United States Armed Forces in World War II probably will not be available for several years. On the other hand, many excellent articles on various phases of the problem have recently appeared. It seems worth while to collect and summarize the outstanding contributions that have been published before memories grow dim and interest flags. Obviously, no attempt can be made to include all papers.
