An experimental model of the bone matrix has been used to measure the increase in marrow dose due to the photo electrons released from the trabecular bone. Sintered glass discs having a range of pore sizes were irradiated while containing ferrous sulphate solution as a dosemeter. The increase in dose compared with the dose to free ferrous sulphate solution exposed simultaneously was determined for six discs at five radiation qualities. The experimental results were compared with the theoretical calculations of other workers.
