MoMo Quadruple Bonds Bridged by 1,8‐Naphthyridinyl‐2,7‐Dioxide: an Insight into the Nature of a Parallel‐Linked Stiff‐Chain Polymer:

Alternating short and long MoMo distances characterize 1, which can thus be formulated as a dimer of Mo  Mo systems. The degree of electronic communication between the Mo2 units depends on the bridging ligand. The separation of the two electrochemical oxidation steps in 1 (naphthpyridine ligand) of 373 mV is reduced to ca. 100 mV in the anthracenedicarboxylato complex.
