Lidoflazine therapy was associated with improved regional myocardial perfusion during exercise, relief of angina, and increased physical work capacity in 6 patients with severe angina pectoris.
Why the study?
Does lidoflazine improve myocardial perfusion during exercise in patients with severe classic angina pectoris?
Does lidoflazine improve myocardial perfusion during exercise in patients with severe classic angina pectoris?
In a small series of patients with severe angina, lidoflazine improved exercise myocardial perfusion and physical work capacity.
May support further study of lidoflazine in angina; leaves open efficacy without randomized trials.
Lidoflazine is a synthetic drug with calcium-channel blocking effects. In a study of 6 patients with severe classic angina pectoris, single-blind administration of lidoflazine was associated with improved myocardial perfusion during exercise as determined by thallium-201 stress scintigraphy. These studies demonstrate that lidoflazine therapy is associated with relief of angina, an increased physical work capacity, and improved regional myocardial perfusion during exercise.

Shapiro et al. (1983) studied severe classic angina pectoris (n=6). Lidoflazine was evaluated on myocardial perfusion during exercise as determined by thallium-201 stress scintigraphy. Lidoflazine therapy was associated with improved regional myocardial perfusion during exercise, relief of angina, and increased physical work capacity in 6 patients with severe angina pectoris.
