A Glauber-type eikonal approximation with the classical trajectories taken as two intersecting straight-line segments (called "angle" trajectories) is examined and applied to the $2s$ and $2p$ excitation of hydrogen atoms by electron impact. The calculated differential and total excitation cross sections are compared with experimentally measured and "straight-line" Glauber-eikonal cross sections. The angle approximation does provide a significant improvement over the straight-line approximation for the differential cross section at angles >40^∘{}.
