Less than 3 pA/√Hz over 1–800 MHz noise current spectral density optical receiver for SCM-CATV systems

A low noise optical receiver for SCM-CATV systems is described which uses discrete, commercial devices. By using a symmetrical resonance tuned input configuration, the equivalent input noise current spectral density, measured according to an accurate method, is less than 3 pA/√Hz in the frequency range 1–800 MHz.
