This study investigated the application of laser-induced wet surface treatment to improve the wear resistance of titanium alloys. Near-infrared laser irradiation of titanium alloys immersed in Al(NO 3 ) 3 aqueous solution resulted in the generation of modified layer containing Al and O elements derived from the solution. Different overlap rates were employed for laser irradiation, and it was determined that the overlap rate had no significant effect on the roughness or chemical composition of the modified surface. Sliding tests using alumina balls demonstrated that the modified surfaces exhibited stable sliding properties and excellent wear resistance. Furthermore, the modified surfaces with Al and O elements were effective in preventing alumina adhesion. The modified layers were identified as composed of Al 2 O 3 and TiAl 2 O 5 , and it was concluded that their high mechanical properties significantly contribute to the improvement in wear resistance. These findings have the potential to advance the performance of titanium alloys and expand their applications.
