Medroxyprogesterone acetate (MPA) in a dose of 10 mg q.i.d. was given to 11 subjects with active acromegaly for a period of 3 months. Glucose tolerance tests with measurement of GH and IRI were performed before treatment, at 1 week, 1 month, 3 months and, in 4 cases, at 4 months. No significant alteration occurred in GH or IRI levels, and there was no obvious therapeutic benefit.
