Case report demonstrates the diagnostic utility of secretin-enhanced MRCP in a pediatric patient with recurrent pancreatitis, highlighting duodenal diverticulum as a rare etiology.
An 11-year-old boy with a history of abdominal pain was referred for evaluation of recurrent acute pancreatitis, presenting with worsening pain and vomiting over the preceding 6 months.During these episodes, serum lipase levels ranged from 1500 to 9000 U/L, while C-reactive protein and bilirubin levels remained normal.Symptoms peaked within hours and resolved within 2 days.Between episodes, he remained asymptomatic, although gamma-glutamyl transferase was persistently elevated (approximately 240 U/L).
