Survey study reveals that hope agency strongly predicts advocacy engagement among school counselors in the United States, highlighting the importance of goal-directed motivation in counseling...
We examined hope and advocacy among school counselors in the United States (n = 89) and explored the degree to which school counselors’ total hope, hope agency, and hope pathways predicted their advocacy. Correlations demonstrated that higher hope levels related to more advocacy engagement. Regression analyses revealed that hope agency significantly predicted advocacy, while hope pathways did not uniquely predict beyond agency. We offer implications for promoting advocacy in school counseling practice, training, and research.
