The variation of the critical current, Ic, in dependence on the applied strain, [MATH], is important for characterizing Nb3Sn superconducting wires. An apparatus for studying the strain sensitivity of Ic up to a magnetic field of 14 T under a mechanical load up to 5 kN and an electric current up to 1.5 kA is described. An apparatus for studying the strain sensitivity of Ic up to a magnetic field of 14 T under a mechanical load up to 5 kN and an electric current up to 1.5 kA is described. Some actual results for internally reinforced Nb3Sn conductors are presented.
