Solid solution hardening is studied on single crystals of NbRe, NbTa, NbMo, and NbW over the temperature range 77 to 2000 K. The behaviour at high temperatures is described in terms of elastic interaction parameters: size effect ϵb and modulus effect ϵG. There sults are discussed together with those of a previous investigation on tantalum base alloys. Solid solution hardening in both systems is well described by the Labusch relationship.
