The cathodoluminescence emission spectrum of as-grown crystals of zinc telluride at 10 K has been investigated. Emission bands corresponding to two bound-to-bound transitions and two free-to-bound transitions have been observed. The acceptor states giving rise to the emissions are attributed to the double-acceptor levels produced in zinc telluride by zinc vacancies. This is the first reported observation of emission which arises from donor to double-acceptor recombination.
