The static image theory of Kelvin for a conducting sphere and that of Neumann for a material sphere, rediscovered recently, is augmented with a theory for a sphere with impedance boundary conditions. The image of a point source is seen to consist of a point source and line source consisting of two components. The theory is tested by showing that the image in a planar impedance surface is obtained as a special case.
