Coating of chemically modified glass open tubular columns with SF-96 silicone oil in toluene by the dynamic plug method yields a stationary phase layer whose thickness depends directly on the column radius and on the square root of the coating velocity. The dependence of efficiency and other column characteristics on coating velocity was also investigated with special reference to the behavior of the film of phase. The static coating method apparently offers few advantages over the plug procedure.
