The design of a versatile spectroflash unit with a triggered spark gap

A microsecond light source which can be triggered by a spark gap is described. A wide range of discharge voltages is achieved by varying the gas pressure in the spark gap. Several methods used to reduce the time delay between trigger pulse and light pulse are discussed, and a relatively simple device for obtaining low jitter and short time delay is described.
