THE purpose of the present study is to find out if thorough screening of a small selected section of the population would be clinically valuable in the early diagnosis of glaucoma simplex. Mass screening of people over 40 years of age would certainly reduce the incidence of blindness due to glau- coma, but screening on such a scale would, for practical reasons, have to be limited to tonometry and optic disc inspection.
