The aim of this paper is to introduce the theory and techniques of non-linear discrete-time dynamics to the non-specialist and to describe some of the ways in which this material has been applied to the study of sigma–delta modulators. It is aimed at readers who are familiar with sigma–delta systems but not with non-linear dynamics.
