The influence of uniaxial anisotropy in the substrate on the resonant frequency of a rectangular microstrip patch is investigated. Computations show that changes in ɛz can drastically shift the resonant frequency; moreover, a small shift is observed when ɛx changes. Other results also indicate that the effect of ɛx tends to be insignificant for low substrate thicknesses.
