Plants are known to contain three principal types of phytohormones: auxins, gibberellins, and cytokinins. In addition, abscisic acid and ethylene very probably also function as hormones. The growth-regulatory activities of cytokinins are outlined and compared with those of the other hormonal types. Interaction between hormonal types is discussed.
