The objective of the experiment was to determine the influence of continuous illumination of incubating chicken eggs upon embryonic development. The weights of embryos from eggs that were exposed to fluorescent light during incubation and those from eggs that were incubated without illumination were compared on each day of incubation from the fifth through the fourteenth day. Embryos from the illuminated eggs were significantly heavier than those from the non-illuminated eggs. Egg size had no effect upon embryo weight for the period studied.
