The problem of multiple x-ray scattering from spherical particles of radius much larger than the wave-length is treated using the Guinier approximate scattering function. The total scattered intensity is found to be a sum of Gaussians in the polar angle with coefficients dependent on the sample thickness. A method is discussed for determining particle sizes from the variation of the width of the scattering curve with sample thickness. Experimental results are given for two carbon blacks.
