Taxonomic review uncovers a novel planthopper species and undescribed morphology in Chinese Reptalus, highlighting regional insect biodiversity.
The Chinese species of the genus Reptalus Emeljanov, 1971 (Hemiptera, Fulgoromorpha, Cixiidae) are reviewed. A new species, R. inaequalis Lv, Li & Chen, sp. nov ., from Fujian Province, China, is described and illustrated. This new species belongs to the subgenus Pererepa . The female genitalia of two species within this genus, R. (R.) arcbogdulus (Dlabola, 1965) and R. (P.) quadricinctus (Matsumura, 1914), are described and illustrated herein for the first time. A checklist and an updated identification key to the Chinese species of the genus are provided.
