In the free radical solution, terpolymerization of two electron donating monomers, linalool (LIN) and styrene (STY) with one electron accepting monomer, methylmethacrylate (MMA) using benzoyl peroxide (BPO) as an initiator and xylene as diluent at 80°C for 90 min has been extensively studied. The system follows ideal kinetics. The polymers were characterized by 1HNMR, FTIR, GPC, DSC, and TGA. 1HNMR spectrum of terpolymer shows the presence of peaks at 7.0–8.0δ due to alcoholic group, at 3.0–4.0δ due to methoxy group, and at 7.0–7.7δ due to phenyl group. Further the bands at 2900, 1750, and 3400 cm−1 observed in the FTIR spectrum of terpolymer are evidence for the presence of phenyl, methoxy, and alcoholic groups, respectively. The reactivity ratios were determined by the Kelen Tudos method. The values r 1 for MMA and r 2 for (LIN+STY) are 0.62 and 0.04, respectively. It is found that the tersystem coincides with theoretical treatment and gives the relative reactivity ratio by the treatment of the free radical propagating mechanism. The terpolymer was highly thermally stable and has a glass transition temperature of 81°C as evaluated from DSC. The Mark Houwink's constants were measured with the help of gel permeation chromatography as and
