The Waterman-Truell approach has been utilized for the homogenization of a chiral composite formed by identical chiral particles randomly dispersed in free space. Comparison is made with the results of applying the Maxwell Garnett approach on the same composite. The Waterman-Truell approach is found to be deficient compared with the Maxwell Garnett approach, as the former yields only a partial characterization of the homogenized composite.
