Electron-ion coincidence study with a position-sensitive electron detector. The reaction of He(23S) with CF3Cl

The authors investigated the reaction between thermal He(2 3 S) atoms and CF 3 Cl molecules. Previous studies gave results which could not be explained by the generally accepted reaction model of direct Penning ionisation. Based on the authors electron-ion coincidence spectra they discuss possible reaction mechanisms and how they show up in the experimental data. The position-sensitive electron detector used in this study is described in detail.
