The condensation of 2‐hydroxythiophenol (I) with acetylenic compounds (IIa‐g) or halo‐genated esters (IV, V, VIa and b) led to the synthesis of 2,2‐disubstituted‐1,3‐benzoxathioles (IIIa‐g). The structures of these compounds were established by elemental analysis and by ir and nmr spectra.
