Several rotational transitions in CH3F were observed at high magnetic fields to give the molecular g values of g⊥=−0.062 ± 0.002 and g∥=0.265±0.008, the magnetic susceptibility anisotropy of χ⊥−χ=(8.5 ± 0.6)× 10−6 erg/G2· mole, and molecular quadrupole moment along the C3 axis of Q∥ = (0.4 ± 1.0) × 10−2 6 esu · cm2. The value of g∥ in CH3F is compared to other molecules. The remaining Zeeman parameters are listed and discussed in light of the electronic structure.
