X-ray scattering experiments performed on powdered PLZT(8.7/65/35) are extended to temperatures below room temperature. No evidence is found of an abrupt structural change in this temperature range. Between 400 and 560 K, small disconnected clusters of electrically polarised material with rhombohedral symmetry exist in lanthanum deficient regions. Above 560 K the rhombohedral shear disappears yet the polarisation remains up to 640 K. A model involving dynamic re-orientation of the local polarisation at elevated temperatures is used to explain this behaviour.
