Effects of radiation on blood vessels were studied in C3H mouse mammary carcinoma. Vascularization of nontreated tumors, of recurrent tumors, and of tumors transplanted into a previously x-irradiated tumor bed was examined microangiographically. In the nontreated tumor, vascularization was peripheral with penetrating vessels. Vasculature of recurrent tumors and tumors in the preirradiated tumor bed was basically the same. Rich vascularization was located only in the periphery where abundant fine vessels branched but never stretched into the tumor center.
