The bark of Apodytes dimidiata (Icacinaceae) yielded two major compounds, the iridoid genipin ( 1 ) and its 10-monoacetate derivative 2 . Using Bulinus africanus as host snail, we show here that LD 50 values for both compounds were in the range 22 −26 ppm.
