Chemical interactions and interdiffusion between the interconnect, (LaCa)CrO 3 and (YCa)CrCO 3 and the anode, Ni•ZrO 2 , and cathode, (LaSr)MnO 3 and (YCa)MnO 3 , were evaluated from 1300° to 1500°C. Reaction of (LaCa)CrO 3 and Ni•ZrO 2 cermet resulted in the formation of NiCr 2 O 4 spinel, while reaction of (YCa)CrO 3 and Ni•ZrO 2 resulted in the formation of both NiCr 2 O 4 and CaZrO 3 , at all temperatures. Interactions between the chromites and manganites resulted in the formation of a solid solution. Dense reaction layers were observed near the interface of Ni•ZrO 2 /(LaCa)CrO 3 and Ni•ZrO 2 /(YCa)CrO 3 samples. These dense regions were enriched in calcium and chromium, resulting from liquid migration from the chromite to the anode. Nearly ideal interfaces were observed between (LaSr)MnO 3 and (LaCa)CrCO 3 . Interactions between (YCa)CrO 3 and (YCa)MnO 3 resulted in the formation of a CaCrO 4 rich layer along the interface.
