The mean square displacement of a particle, in an infinitely long and heavily damped sine-Gordon chain at thermal equilibrium, is shown to grow with time at t 1 2/. Physical arguments suggest that this result is valid also for lower damping as long as the kinks exhibit an essentially diffusive motion during their lifetime.
