The importance of proper Coulomb boundary conditions for the theoretical treatment of electron capture is emphasised. It is shown that owing to the neglect of boundary conditions the rigorous version of the strong potential Bron capture amplitude given by Macek and Alston (1982) contains a diverging contribution.
