Absolute temperature coefficients of the quantum efficiency of the bialkali photocathode in RCA 8850 photomultiplier tubes (PMTs) have been measured precisely as a function of wavelength over a range of 520–700 nm, using the photon-counting technique. The measurements were greatly facilitated by particular features of the experimental apparatus and techniques employed.
