Flexible carbon fiber for repair of gastrocnemius and superficial digital flexor tendons in a heifer and gastrocnemius tendon in a foal

Summary Severed gastrocnemius and superficial digital flexor tendons in a 15-month-old Guernsey heifer and an avulsed gastrocnemius tendon in a 3-month-old Pinto filly were surgically repaired, using carbon fiber. The heifer was able to stand and to walk normally after approximately 12 weeks. The filly was slightly lame when last seen, at 18 months.
