Experimental study demonstrates efficient pyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidine synthesis using a bio-MOF catalyst, highlighting a sustainable route for drug development.
The development of environmentally friendly catalysts with biologically active cores could be a new and unique approach in materials science. With this view, Herein, we have introduced a new attitude for the preparation of biological catalyst based on metal-organic frameworks. For this purpose, novel biological metal-organic frameworks Cu-BTC-histidine functionalized with FeCl 3 as a heterogeneous catalyst. This Bio-MOFs was characterized using various techniques such as FT-IR, X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), TG/DTG analysis and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). Then, Bio-MOFs was applied in the synthesis of pyrido[2,3- d ]pyrimidine derivatives as a biologically active candidate. It should be noted that the yields of the products synthesized using the aforementioned catalyst are adequate (75–95%) and the reaction times are short (19–40 min.). The favorable activity of this environmentally friendly catalyst was very interesting in preparing these materials under green, mild conditions.
