Asymmetry of the CTC peak on the forward cross section for ionisation of a H atom by a fast stripped ion

The first-order term of a multiple scattering theory is used to explain the asymmetry in the cusp of the forward differential cross sections for electron capture to the continuum from hydrogen-like atoms by a fast bare ion. An expression is derived for the asymmetric peak which shows explicitly its dependence on the charge and velocity of the ion.
