Helicobacter pylori infection is an accepted cause of dyspepsia, according to the Rome IV criteria,1 because its eradication significantly resolves dyspepsia; however, no H pylori virulence factor that can cause dyspepsia has been identified. Here, we identified a polymorphism in H pylori neutrophil-activating protein A (NapA) closely associated with dyspepsia occurrence.
